Seattle Must-See Attractions

Pike Place Market - Seattle - SeattleVacationGuide.comSeattle is a city like no other. Because of the city’s cultural diversity it’s easy for someone to feel like at home.

Because Seattle is diverse with many attractions and activities, it’s easy to get overwhelmed. Here are six Seattle attractions that I think everyone should visit at least once.

Seattle Space Needle

You can’t go to Seattle without visiting the Space Needle. This 605-foot structure has become a landmark and a symbol for the city. It’s a 41-second elevator ride to reach the 520-foot mark, which is the observation deck. Which by the way has a magnificent view of Mt. Rainier and the city. It also offers a revolving restaurant, retail shops, and a banquet facility.

Pike Place Market

Pike Place Market (pictured above) is a favorite destination for both tourists and locals alike. Personally, I like visiting the famous Pike Place Fish Market to watch the expert fish throwers throw salmon at each other and not dropping it.

Aside from fresh seafood, the market has different restaurants, shops, farmer booths, fresh flower shops, plus street musicians and performers.

Seattle Public Library - Seattle - SeattleVacationGuide.comThe Seattle Public Library

The New Central Library in Downtown Seattle is famous for its modern contemporary look. The building is made-up of glass and steel structure. It’s transparent, allowing curious passersby to look in.

The library is open Mon-Thurs from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., Fri-Sat from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., and Sun from noon-6 p.m.

The library currently has one million books and materials.

Seattle Aquarium

Just below the Pike Place Market, on Pier 59, is the Seattle Aquarium. You can walk underwater in a 400,000-gallon glass dome and view the wonderful sea creatures of Elliott Bay or just sit on the benches and watch them swim around you.

You’ll view different species of shark, seals and other great sea creatures. They even have the first aquarium-based salmon ladder. Every September you can watch them return to the ladder and spawn.

In other smaller tanks you can view the coral reefs, different fishes, and touch a sea anemone. Above the surface, we watched the otters entertain us. Although scary to some, the giant octopus is amazing.

Tillicum Village

One of Seattle’s top attractions is a 4-hour adventure. It includes a cruise to the Elliot Bay where you can dine buffet-style on salmon cooked in the traditional Native American way.

After dinner, a stage show featuring the Tillicum Village Dancers is performed. It was very good and indeed, entertaining.

The Seattle Waterfront

The Seattle waterfront is where you can find practically everything that you need—from variety of restaurants, attractions, and shopping. Ferries, Argosy boat tours and cruise ships are also located here. Seattle’s seaports are awesome. The view is simply marvelous.

For first time visitor these are the places that I would visit. It a good start. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it, because I did.
